There are a growing number of options available to the public today when seeking to preplan and prepay their final wishes. The two methods of setting funds aside for future funeral expenses are insurance trust funding and bank trust funding.  Because the insurance option tends to be less restrictive and can have a Funeral Home Cost Guarantee attached, it is the preferred option of most people.  It is important to note that regardless of the option you choose, 100% of the money is placed in the trust and it remains yours, not the funeral home's.
