Obituary for Marie Kulka
Marie M. Kulka, age 89, of Beaver Dam, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Marie will be at the Murray Funeral Home, 131 East Maple Avenue in Beaver Dam, on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a rosary service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held at church on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 511 South Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam. A luncheon will follow at St. Katharine Drexel Parish Center Mission Hall, 408 South Spring Street.
Marie Margaret was born on June 15, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Lambert and Helen (Goerres) Fox. On June 19, 1943, she was united in marriage with John Kulka in Chicago; they moved to Beaver Dam in 1951. Marie worked at St. Peter’s Catholic School as director and head cook for the school lunch program. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and had been active with the Catholic Women and the Secular Franciscans. Marie was a Girl Scout leader for 20 years, she prepared food for the Red Cross Blood Drives and, in her retirement, she volunteered at many places including Eagles Wings. Marie loved her family and she cherished the many adventures she had with her grandchildren. Marie will be fondly remembered by many for her joyful smile – a smile she kept on her face until her final minutes.
Survivors include her children, Daniel (Barb), Walter (Ann), Edward (Caroline), Christine (Joel) Stancer, Jeffrey (Anne), John (Gina), and James (Janice); her grandchildren, Brad (Holly) Kulka, Erin (Clint) Wernimont, John (Casey) Kulka, Beth (Josh) Petersen, Jennifer (John) Szemler, Steve (Tanya) Stancer, Angela Stancer, Kathy Kulka, Sara (Nick) Weller, Jenna (Dane) Neumann, Nichole (Brad) Matusin, Andrew Kulka, Kevin Kulka, Ben Kulka, and Nate Kulka; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gail Fox; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1967; and her siblings, Angela, Rosemary, and Kenneth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marie M. Kulka’s name to St. Katharine Drexel School or the Remembrance Home.
